What Our Students Say

Real stories from students who achieved their dream of studying abroad with our guidance and support.

“StudyCanada Nepal helped me get into Conestoga College through the SDS pathway. My study permit was approved in just 18 days — I could not believe it. I completed a 2-year diploma in Supply Chain Management with a co-op term at a logistics company. After graduation, I got my 3-year PGWP and found a full-time job in Toronto within 6 weeks. I applied for Express Entry through the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) and received my PR in less than a year. From student to PR in 3 years — the college pathway really works.”

“I chose UBC for my Masters in Computer Science based on StudyCanada Nepal's recommendation. They helped me apply for a teaching assistantship which covered my full tuition and gave me a CAD 22,000/year stipend. The application process for UBC graduate school was complex but the counselors guided me through every step — SOP, reference letters, and research statement. I completed my Masters in 2 years and now work as a software engineer at a tech company in Vancouver. My CRS score with IELTS 8.0 and Canadian Masters was 498 — I received my PR invitation in the very first draw I was eligible for.”

“I was initially confused about SDS vs regular stream. StudyCanada Nepal explained everything clearly. I had IELTS 6.0 in all bands so I qualified for SDS. They walked me through buying the GIC from Scotiabank, paying tuition to Conestoga College, and preparing my SOP. My study permit came in 22 days. Now I am in my second year of the IT program with a co-op placement at a software company paying me CAD 4,000/month. Kitchener is much cheaper than Toronto and has a great tech scene. The Nepali community here is huge — feels like home.”

Frequently Asked Questions

What is SDS and do I qualify?
The Student Direct Stream (SDS) is a fast-track study permit processing pathway for Nepali students. To qualify, you need: IELTS Academic 6.0 or higher in ALL four bands (not just overall — each of Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking must be 6.0+), a Letter of Acceptance from a DLI, a GIC of CAD 20,635, and first-year tuition paid in full. If you meet all requirements, your study permit can be processed in as few as 20 days. SDS is strongly recommended over the regular stream for eligible applicants due to faster processing and higher approval rates.
How much does it cost to study in Canada from Nepal?
Total costs vary by program type. College diploma (2 years): CAD 24,000-44,000 tuition + CAD 24,000-36,000 living = CAD 48,000-80,000 total (NPR 60 lakh to 1 crore). University Bachelors (4 years): CAD 80,000-220,000 tuition + CAD 48,000-80,000 living = CAD 128,000-300,000 total. University Masters (2 years): CAD 30,000-90,000 tuition + CAD 24,000-40,000 living = CAD 54,000-130,000 total. Part-time work earning CAD 12,000-18,000/year significantly offsets these costs. Funded Masters students may pay little to nothing. The college route is the most affordable pathway.
What is a GIC and how does it work?
A Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) is a deposit of CAD 20,635 at a participating Canadian bank. It serves as proof that you have funds for living expenses and is mandatory for SDS applications (recommended for regular applications). After you arrive in Canada and open your bank account, the GIC funds are returned to you in monthly installments over 12 months (approximately CAD 1,500-1,700/month). This helps you cover living expenses during your first year. You can buy a GIC from Scotiabank, CIBC, SBI Canada, or ICICI Bank Canada — the process is done online from Nepal via wire transfer.
Can I get PR after studying in Canada?
Yes, and this is Canada's biggest advantage. The pathway: 1) Complete a 2-year program at a DLI, 2) Apply for a 3-year Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), 3) Work in Canada for 1+ year in a skilled occupation (NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3), 4) Submit an Express Entry profile — your Canadian education, work experience, age, and English proficiency earn CRS points, 5) Receive a PR invitation through the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) or Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Many Nepali graduates receive PR within 2-3 years of completing their studies. A PNP nomination adds 600 CRS points, making it the most reliable pathway.
College or university — which is better for immigration?
For PR purposes, both are equally valid. A 2-year college diploma and a 4-year university degree both give you a 3-year PGWP and qualify for Express Entry. The key differences: Cost (college is 30-50% cheaper), Time (college is 2 years vs 4 years for university), CRS points (university degree gives slightly more education points but the difference is small), Career type (university leads to more analytical/professional roles, college leads to practical/technical roles). For the most cost-effective PR pathway, a 2-year college diploma is hard to beat. For career advancement and higher-paying roles long-term, a university degree may be worth the extra investment.
